photo tips
taking your picture
Please note that we will gladly modify any design to fit the dimensions of your photo(s). Just be sure to send your photos uncropped and unaltered.
A high-quality photograph will ensure your announcement looks its best. If using a digital camera, set it to the highest resolution setting.
Here are some tips for taking a great picture for your baby's announcement:
- - wait until your baby is well-rested and fed before attempting a photo shoot.
- - simple, solid colored clothing helps keeps the focus on your baby.
- - try laying your baby on a light, solid background. You can lay a white sheet or blanket on your bed, on the floor, or drape one over the carseat.
- - try to ensure any light is coming from behind the photographer, rather than behind your baby; avoid harsh shadows across his or her face.
- - when you frame your shot, try to fill most of the frame with your baby. Avoid any distractions in the background.
- - try different angles… and different looks… yawning, sleeping, stretching, and even crying babies can make great shots.
- - close-ups of hands and feet make touching accents for multiple photo announcements.
- - keep shooting until you get a shot that captures your baby's beauty and spirit!
